Information about Unifight

The idea of creating a new kind of applied single combat appeared in 1996. It had to integrate the best achievements in the field of hand-to-hand fighting in our country and progressive foreign experience of sport-fighting single combats.

Many people were involved in practical embodiment of this idea. Judo olympic champion, Master of pedagogical science Novikov Sergey prepared the conception and rules of "Russian fight"("Universal fight").

Unifight is a power sport biathlon. The first kind of biathlon is surmounting of the special obstacle line, during which sportsmen shoot and throw side-arms. The second one is combat on the ring, and it goes right after the first stage.

The appearance of Unifight is closely connected with the development of applied kinds of single combats, such as hand-to-hand fighting, sambo, judo, karate, jiu-jitsu, boxing, which are performed in connection with such applied kinds as shooting, side-arms throwing, and it includes the elements of actions on army ground. However the Russian experience was taken into account when designing this new kind of sport. They generalized the most valuable elements in all the versions: army version, hand-to-hand polyfight (in military sports classification) and law enforcement organs version.

Nowadays there is no alternative to Unifight in the field of applied kinds of sport, because biathlon (including the surmounting of obstacle line, knife throwing, running) and combat on the ring (painful and smothering holds are allowed), is the unique kind of sport. This kind of sport is a good tool for special sub-units preparation in power structures.

The popularity of Unifight can be easily explained. Single combats had a very high potential of development, and though they originally were created as applied kind of sports and were basis for the special preparation in law enforcement organs, armed forces and other power structures, finally they overcame the limits of the applied discipline and attracted attention of the society as kinds of sport.

The leaders of many kinds of fight single combat are sure that their kind is the most effective and universal system of preparation of fighter for the real fight situation. This discussion can be settled only in combats with the rules, which allow sportsmen to use the most effective sides of their system with minimal limitations. That is why special attention is paid to define what technique is allowed and what is prohibited, and to the principles of refereeing of the fighter's actions. A thorough analysis of allowed and prohibited techniques in all main kinds of single combats was made (boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo, kickboxing, hand-to-hand fighting, etc.). That was made in order to make combat closer to real conditions of single combat and to keep the required level of safe.

In the competition process a mutual enrichment in techniques and tactics takes place among the representatives of different kinds of single combats, they master principles of hand-to-hand fighting.

Since 1997 this kind of sport became popular due to the TV program "Russian fight". Soldiers, sergeants and officers of all power structures took active part in this program. Due to the broadcasting of the competitions "Russian fight" became famous in Russia and abroad.

In 1999 the 1st Russia Championship of "Russian fight"(Unifight) took pace in Ivanovo, where the Constituent conference on creation of All-Russia people's organization "Sport federation "Russian fight"", in which the representatives of 45 regions of Russia took part.

Federation pays much attention to the scientific support of this kind of sport, and a special commission was set up, they prepare methodical supplies on "Unifight", knife throwing and shooting.

That is why we can say that Unifight is on of the most dynamically developing kind of single combats in the world.

Analysis of the development of sport versions of hand-to-hand fighting allows us to make summary:

1. The applied versions (army and law enforcement organs version) will remain independent, because they reflect specific character of the profession and directions of specialists training in different structures.

2. There is a tendency to create an integrated version, which allows sportsmen of complex single combats and hand-to-hand lovers to compete.

3. One of the most successful and prospective integrated versions is universal fight-"Unifight".

4. "Unifight" is very popular among young people and adults, it is world-wide spread, and it allows this kind of sport to aspire to the status of world recognized kind of sport.

The main aim of the development of this kind of sport is including it in the Olympic games program.
